We wanted to share with you some of the wonderful moments from our 2006 Easter Pilgrimage to Lourdes with HCPT-The Pilgrimage Trust.

The Trust was celebrating its 50 years anniversary, which made it a very special week for all of us, and the spectacular firework display that we enjoyed after the torchlight procession certainly added to the celebratory mood. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to take 53 children to Lourdes with the Manchester Region this year and the “golden moments” we experienced together made it one of the most memorable pilgrimages so far.

The theme for the week was “Share the Light” and this helped us to think about the light we all have inside of us and the gifts we have to share with others. The helpers showed true dedication, love and care for the children they were looking after and we all benefited from the marvellous company of the children. It was a humbling experience and a great privilege to share the week with such special, wonderful children and to witness the trusting acceptance of their disabilities or difficulties. 

We had great fun throughout the week, with lots of singing and joy. The Trust Mass brought the whole of the HCPT groups together for an uplifting celebration of prayer and music. The Manchester Region also shared two regional Masses together on Easter Sunday and at Hosanna House on Tuesday.

Most of the groups enjoyed days out to the zoo and the beach during the week and we were blessed with fine weather for most of the time. To see a child paddle in the sea or play on a beach for the first time is a great gift and makes the whole trip worthwhile! 

Other special moments included going in the Baths, visits to the Grotto and lighting candles for all our friends and families back home. It was here, as well as during our Masses, that we especially remembered all of you, who had donated money to help make our pilgrimage possible. We thank you once again and pray for your continued support.
