I was a boarder at Thornleigh from 1950 to 1954.After the initial shock of leaving home I settled down fairly well.Didn't do very well in education, but was given an enduring faith. Left after 4 Gamma to do my GCEs at a local technical college. Worked in machine tool engineering.

I loved Fr McGovern and played the flute in the orchestra. Happy days!

Dear Fellow Guests,

I was at Cowley up until 1958 and my last form was 4B (i think). I would love to hear from anyone who was at the school around that time.

It's so good that people are able to get in touch through initiatives like this, although many of us maybe a bit too old to bother?

Although it was so many years ago, some things i remember as if yesterday. Fr Crummey (English), Fr (Killer) Jennings (Boxing), Bro Broder(Science), Fr McTague (Latin), Fr Power (French), Fr (Dizzey) Doyle (Head Master), Fr Dr Archer (Head of 6th form) Fr Maguire (?) (Music). (Excuse spellings).

Best regards

Jerry :)

I was a pupil at Cowley from 1946 until 1953. I have a lot of old memorabilia such as school reports, sports day programs etc. I also have a lot of school annual photos. My friends were Michael Bonfiel and Ken Trotman. I am now 77 so will all my old school chums still be around.

Admin reply: Dear John,

Many thanks for your message in our Guestbook. I trust some of your school mates will make contact. Best wishes,

John Ward
