The largest group in the Salesian Family

The Past Pupils of Don Bosco are the largest group in the Salesian Family, with an estimated world-wide membership of 3,000,000 in 53 National Federations and 920 local associations. In Great Britain there are an estimated 25,000 former pupils.

The Great Britain Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco used to have eight schools, three of which are now closed. Five of the schools have active associations.

Report on Scholarship Appeal
2008-2009

We now have the feedback of how our (your) contributions were used, to very beneficial effect.

One school, in Sierra Leone, was removed from the scheme for administrative reasons. The amounts distributed to the remaining schools and pupils for the academic year 2009/10 had to be reduced because we failed to meet our Appeal target, the balance having to be made up by parents.

Below is a sample of the reports we have received for each of the 110 students. Each of these three students, like many, attained Excellent marks. Their names have been blurred to protect their privacy. You can view a larger version by clicking on the image.

40 boys at 145.53 euros per student per year = 5,821.20 euros
Mary Help of Christians Junior Secondary School, Matadi, Liberia
13 girls and 27 boys at 85.48 euros per student per year = 3,419.20 euros
Don Bosco Technical High School, Monrovia, Liberia
24 girls and 6 boys at 109.54 euros per student per year = 3,286.20 euros
Grand Total
12,526.60 euros at three Salesian Institutions in West Africa.
