Catholic Children's Society Mass
On Sunday 1st December some Blaisdon and Crusade of Rescue Old Boys from St Joseph's, Enfield, were invited to the Benefactors' Mass of the Catholic Children's Society (Westminster), formerly The Crusade of Rescue, and afterwards to join them for refreshments in the Crypt. This was held at the ancient and beautiful Church of St Etheldreda, Ely Place.
The Mass was celebrated by The Right Rev. Bishop James O'Brien with Rev Canon J McDonald concelebrating. We were especially warmly welcomed by the Bishop at the beginning of Mass, when each of us were mentioned by name.
The photos tell their own story and some include the Blaisdon PP with the Bishop, who remembered Enfield and the late Bishop Craven, Administrator of the Crusade of Rescue at our time. Indeed he told us that an Enfield Old Boy, who later became a Secular Priest, John Norton, whom we all knew, was ordained a Priest at the very same ceremony as the Bishop was ordained a Priest.
